Real recipes, real prices. Most dinners on Farean cost about $2 per serving.

About Us

Good food should not cost a fortune.

Farean started in a small apartment kitchen with a tight grocery budget and a big appetite. We wanted meals that were exciting to eat, easy to cook, and honest about what they cost.

Today we share recipes, meal prep plans, and money-saving guides for anyone trying to stretch their food budget: students, young families, retirees, and everyone in between. Every recipe lists the price of each ingredient, based on typical prices at major US grocery stores, so you can plan your shopping with confidence.

What we cover

  • Recipes — Tested dinners that taste like a splurge but cost about $2 a serving. Every recipe shows the price of each ingredient, so you always know what you will spend.
  • Meal Prep — Make-ahead breakfasts, lunches, and dinners that hold up in the fridge for days. One afternoon of cooking, a week of easy meals.
  • Quick Meals — Fast, cheap dinners for the nights you have no time and no plan. Most use pantry staples you already have.
  • Budget Tips — Simple, proven ways to cut your grocery bill without eating boring food. Real advice for real US supermarkets.

How we calculate prices

1. Real store prices

We check regular (non-sale) prices at large US grocery chains and use store brands whenever possible.

2. Only what you use

If a recipe uses 2 Tbsp from a $4 bottle of oil, we count only the cost of those 2 Tbsp.

3. Updated often

Food prices change, so we review recipe costs regularly. Your local prices may be higher or lower.
